Ranchi producer Ajay Kumar Singh’s high octane multi starrer drama movie ‘Family of Thakurganj’ starring popular faces like Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahi Gill is slated to release on July 19. Talking to the media on Tuesday in the State capital, Singh said that he always wanted to make a movie based in Jharkhand.
“Being from Ranchi, I always wanted to make a film based in Jharkhand because ‘Dabaang’ type images are generally found in states like Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. This movie is a family drama based on two brothers who live in a joint family and has mostly been shot in Lucknow and Mumbai,” said the producer.
Slated for a world wide release on July 19, the movie will be screened in over 700 cinema halls. It also stars veteran actors like Saurabh Shukla and Supriya Pilgaonkar along with Yashpal Sharma and Pranati Rai Prakash in prominent roles.
Yashpal Sharma, who plays the character of ‘Sajjan Singh’, strongly feels that Fridays are special since new movies hit the theatres. “July 19 is very special because our film is releasing that day. This film has been made in just 11 months and has some witty dialogues. People should watch it as it has some of the best actors from the industry. It has powerful dialogues and strong characters with a very gripping story line,” remarked the actor.
Sharma has been seen in many Bollywood movies like ‘Shool’, ‘Lagaan: One Upon A time in India’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Singh is King’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ to name a few.
The character ‘Suman’ is played by Pranati Rai Prakash who hails from Bihar. “Since the film is based in Lucknow, I was quite familiar with the dialect. I play the role of a middle class girl who wants to pursue her career in advertising but is unable to go against her family values. It’s my debut movie and I am lucky to share the screen with such veteran actors,” she remarked.
The film has been written by Dilip Shukla popularly known for movies like Ghayal, Damini, Andaz Apna Apna, Dabaang and Dabaang 2. The film has been directed by Manoj Jha and has been produced under the banner of Lovely World Entertainment.
The music has been composed by Sajid- Wajid while the lyrics have been penned by Danish Sabri. The playback singers for the movie are Mika Singh, Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal.
