The Dehradun Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Choubey has started the inquiry on the robbery in the home of a Government official in the month of May which went un-reported. The wife of Transport Department Officer Alok Kumar, Rama Singhal submitted a complaint at the camp office of Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi about the robbery in their house on May 26, stating that jewellery amounting to about Rs 20 lakh and Rs 5 lakh cash were looted by the robbers.
However, her statement contradicts the earlier claim made by two of the accused caught in another robbery, who had stated that they had looted Rs 1.38 crore from the official’s house. In order to inquire the contradiction and ascertain the authenticity of the claims made, the SSP has directed the SP city to conduct an inquiry. SP (city) Choubey said, “The inquiry is being conducted based on the evidences found during our investigation of the case registered in Rajpur police station and the statements made by the victims.”
In the complaint submitted by Rama Singhal, she stated that the robbers warned them to not file any complaint of the robbery.
They also threatened to kill their son in Noida, if they disobeyed the warning.
The accused Mohammad Adnan and Haider have claimed that their gang had also conducted a robbery at the residence of the Government official in Vijay Park, Vasant Vihar. They claimed to have looted Rs 1.38 crore and dividing approximately Rs 23 lakh each.
