Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the newly-established Munderwa Sugar Mill of UP State Sugar Corporation Limited in Basti on November 21. The new mill will have a capacity of 5000 TCD and will generate 27 Mega Watt of power.
Principal Secretary, Cane Development, Sanjay R Bhoosreddy said that Munderwa sugar mill will work at full capacity in the 2019-20 crushing season.
“Around 30,000 cane farmers of the mill area will be benefited by supplying their produce to the mill,” he said.
In the 2019-20 crushing season, an approximate crushing of about 60 lakh quintals of cane was expected which would produce 6.25 lakh quintals of sugar. The project would provide direct and indirect employment to about 8,500 persons. Besides, electricity will also be exported from the co-generation plant, due to which sugar mill was likely to get a revenue of about Rs 30 crore every year.
“The establishment of the new sugar mill in Munderwa (Basti) will prove to be meaningful in increasing economic prosperity of cane farmers of the region and doubling their income,” said Bhoosreddy. Cane minister Suresh Rana said that the Chief Minister will also launch the new crushing season on November 21 and the function will start at 10 am.
