Cong accuses BJP leaders for protecting illicit liquor biz

Sunday, 22 September 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

The Congress party has severely castigated the BJP government of Uttarakhand for the illicit liquor tragedy in the state capital. The Vice President of the Congress party, Surya Kant Dhasmana has alleged that in Uttarakhand the leaders of ruling party are providing protection to the illegal business of illicit liquor. Launching a scathing attack on the state government, he said that one can understand the situation in other parts of the state when a tragedy has struck in an area that is hardly 500 meters from the residence of Chief Minister of the State. On Saturday, Dhasmana visited the Patharia Peer area and met the families of victims.

He claimed that some more people in the area have fallen ill. Dhasmana said that one person in the area has died under suspicious conditions. He demanded that the state government should destroy the entire network of illicit liquor in Uttarakhand failing which the Congress party would start a massive agitation in the State.
