Cong committed to do NYAY with poor: Baghel

Monday, 15 April 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday that his party’s Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) aimed at providing Rs 72,000 to poor person annually will play a game-changer for millions  families in alleviating poverty.

Baghel who is currently on a whirlwind tour of Raigarh, Durg and Raipur districts to boost party’s poll prospects, claimed that only Congress keeps its poll promises while other parties just believe in false promises at the time of election to woo voters.

Addressing a series of public meetings in Raigarh, Durg and  Raipur districts, Baghel asserted that Congress was committed to work for the welfare of the poor people.

Unlike BJP which failed to deliver its promises made in 2014 Lok Sabha poll manifesto, the newly formed Congress Government in Chhattisgarh delivered more than half of the main promises which it made during assembly polls and remaining promises would also be honoured in time-bound manner.

Claiming that it was the Congress which is concerned of the poor, he said his party’s Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) would prove to be a boon for poor families across the country.

“The NYAY highlights the concern of the party for the deprived section and would prove to be an instrumental in nation’s progress,’’ Baghel remarked at a rally in Durg district. Citing that Congress government in state had fulfilled the promises of farm loan waiver, raised Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy to Rs 2500 and also slashed power tariff to half, he assured that the promises for Lok Sabha elections for implementing NYAY would also be fulfilled.

“Chhattisgarh had till now seen the governance of a collector (Ajit Jogi) and a doctor (Raman Singh) and now people will experience the service of a son of farmer,’’ he further said, adding that he knows the pulse of public and their hardships.
