Congress announces six names from Haryana

Sunday, 14 April 2019 | PNS | Chandigarh

After much speculation, Congress on Saturday released a list of six candidates from Haryana, which included former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja from Ambala.

Haryana Congress President Ashok Tanwar will contest from Sirsa again, the seat from where he lost the last parliamentary polls in 2014. As expected, sitting MP Deepender Singh Hooda has been renominated from Rohtak, considered to be a bastion of the Congress. Deepender won the seat in 2014 even though there was a pro BJP and pro Modi wave in the State.

The party also fielded Shruti Chaudhary from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, a seat which she had represented earlier. She is the daughter of Haryana CLP leader Kiran Chowdhury. Former Haryana ministrr Ajay Singh Yadav will contest from Gurgaon and Lalit Nagar from Faridabad.
