Chhattisgarh Congress on Saturday severely criticized the performance of the previous BJP government headed by Raman Singh.
The party said farmers of the state got their loans waived off under Bhupesh Baghel government, while “during Raman-Raj” farmers had to commit suicide.
In a press statement, the Congress questioned when Baghel-led government could increase the paddy procurement rate to Rs 2,500 per quintal, waive off irrigation taxes and slash power tariff to half in Chhattisgarh, why Raman Singh’s government could not do the same?
“This is the difference between Bhupesh Baghel and Raman government. The intention of the Congress government is to ensure financial prosperity of majority of the population and so farmers and poor people are given priority,” the statement said.
Admonishing Raman Singh, the statement further said the previous government in the state had launched schemes to benefit only few individuals.
“Raman Singh should look into his past and see that his 15 years rule shrunk his party’s tally to 15 seats,” it said.
The central leadership of the Congress party reposed confidence on Bhupesh Baghel and hence he was sent to other states for canvassing.
If Raman Singh was not found useful by the BJP leadership despite him being the national vice president, then it is his weakness, the statement claimed.
