Congress to observe ‘Martyrs’ day today

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to observe Martyr’s Day on the anniversary of Jheeram killing on Saturday.

The party has instructed all the district and block units to organize programme in their respective headquarters and pay tribute to the victims, who laid down their lives in Maoist attack.

Notable, on May 25, 2013 top leadership of the state Congress including the then PCC Chief Nandkumar Patel, Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudliyar, Yogendra Sharma, Gopi Madhwani lost their lives in a Maoist attack.

Veteran leader Vidyacharan Shukla  succumbed to his injuries on June 11. The Congress will also observe the death   anniversary of Shukla as Martyrs day, official sources informed.

Sources further informed that  symposiums would also be organised at each and every district and block headquarters where contribution of the martyrs would be highlighted. The distiguished speakers would also threw light on the personality of the departed leaders and homage would be paid to them.
