The Sundargarh police are still clueless about the location of the trafficked minor girl, who was allegedly sold off in Madhya Pradesh. The police so far arrested one accused in the case.
According to sources, the victim girl (16) is daughter of a widow of Manamunda village under Dharuadih police station in Sundargarh district. On June 5, one Jugal Oram of Dhabalakhamana village along with one Sabita Khadia of Itma village had come to the house of the girl and promised of giving a good job to the victim girl outside the State. She told that a couple, Manoj Munda and Sanju Munda, of Dhabalakhamana village will also accompany her daughter. Later, agent Jugal and Sabita Khadia had taken the victim girl along with Manoj Munda and Sanju Munda with them.
After 15 days, Manoj and Sanju returned to their village and met the victim girl’s mother where they disclosed that her daughter was sold by agent Jugal in Katni area in Madhya Pradesh.
On June 26, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint in the Dharuadih police station. However, the police did not show much urgency in the case.
But after Sundargarh Sadar MLA Kusum Tete talked to Sundargarh SP Soumya Mishra, the police swung into action.
On Monday, the police interrogated accused Jugal and forwarded him to court on Tuesday but police reportedly have not got any lead in tracing the victim.
Another accused, Sabita, is absconding and police are searching her.
“We are yet to know the location of the trafficked girl. Our effort is on to trace her, ” said Sundargarh Sadar SDPO B Deep, adding that an investigation is on to know about involvement of other persons in the case.
