Friday, 25 October 2019 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Initially, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inspector, Sohan Singh Rawat started cycling to stay fit, but with time the same started becoming his passion. So much so that he has completed about 1,500 kilometres in just 11 days on his cycle. He has cycled to the Panch Kedar and Badrinath shrines among other places. He now wishes to visit Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines on his cycle.

While speaking with media on Thursday, he said that on October 12 he started his journey from Dehradun and till October 23 he had covered about 1,500 kilometres. He said that the only motive behind his entire journey was fitness and his belief in the holy places situated in mountainous regions of Uttarakhand.

He further said that when he started his journey from Dehradun, his first target was Rudraprayag which is about 178 kilometres away. He said that because of the ongoing construction work of all weather road project he got delayed at different places, otherwise he could have completed the entire journey in a shorter duration.

When asked as to where he got the motivation for this journey he said, during August 2018 his interest in cycling evolved into a passion. The same passion motivated him to visit to the five Panch Kedar shrines. Earlier on May 6, 2018 he started his first journey to Kedarnath from Dehradun and completed it on May 11.
