Chief Secretary Dr. DK Tiwari on Tuesday directed the secretaries of all departments to focus on issues such as Panchayati Raj, pension, scholarship, water, electricity and street light for welfare of commoners. For monitoring the performance of various departments in this regard, he directed officials to hold weekly and monthly review meetings.

He said that due to the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections the Government’s work days will be reduced.

“Departments must draft a list of top 10 priorities and work on them before the end of the Model Code of Conduct,” he said.

Tiwari on Tuesday reviewed the preparations for ensuring the fulfillment of the Chief Minister's 109 declarations in the 2019-20 annual budget.

The Chief Secretary instructed all the secretaries to make a brief booklet on the achievements of their respective departments and give the booklet to representatives of the Government of India visiting the State.

Tiwari instructed all officials to review works at the grass root level at least twice every month.

“Review the work at the grass root level, solve problems if any and give instructions to juniors,” he said, adding that field visits were more important than meetings.

He also asked the officials to prepare of database of the available infrastructure and try and make the most out of the already available government buildings instead of constructing new ones.

Tiwari directed the department concerned to hand over appointment letters to the teachers who have cleared necessary exams soon after the Model Code of Conduct ends. He asked the tourism department to organise yearly festivals with music bands of the state in a bid to promote local talent.

Directing the Transport Department to prepare skilled drivers under the scheme of the Institute of Driving Training and Research, he said that every year about 1000 drivers get opportunities to work in Dubai on a good package.

On the lines of Karnataka and New Delhi, he asked officials to encourage the installation of solar panels in urban houses.

Asking the Forest Department to focus on making cities greener, he said that Jaipal Singh Stadium of Ranchi should have a green area such as a park or a garden.
