The number of patients of dengue and scrub typhus fever is on a rise in the district of Haridwar. In the district hospital five people suffering from dengue and 14 suffering from scrub typhus have been confirmed till date. There is an isolation ward for dengue patients in the district hospital but the increase in number of scrub typhus patients has become a matter of concern for the district health authorities this year.
Speaking to The Pioneer the Haridwar district hospital chief medical superintendent, Dr Rajkumar said,"Four patients suffering from dengue and seven patients suffering from scrub typhus have been admitted to the district hospital while one dengue patient and seven persons suffering from scrub typhus have been discharged after successful treatment. We have ample medicines for both the diseases and blood separator unit."
Meanwhile, some doctors from private hospitals and clinics suggest that the reason for the rise in number of patients suffering from scrub typhus fever in the district should be researched lest it becomes a routine or epidemic in coming days.
