The department of Panchayati Raj Uttarakhand has claimed in a press release that in 7758 gram panchayats based in the State, the department has been conducting open meetings of the Gram Sabhas for building the participatory Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) operated by the Government of India.
Under GPDP, apart from the Department of Panchayati Raj, several other departments, including departments of rural development, agriculture, horticulture, women empowerment and child development are playing a vital role.
Despite lack of relative working human resources, the Department Of Panchayati Raj is able to conduct successful programmes run by the Government of India by maintaining symmetry among all the districts through the district magistrates, the release claimed. In the context to Uttarakhand’s geographical conditions, the plan under GPDP includes the formation of toilets, plan related to women, employment, transport, and the plan related to living and things are moving smoothly, the release claimed.
The release further claimed that in spite of extremely challenging geographical conditions and adverse climate, Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj is committed towards the timely accomplishment of the Government Of India’s plan/policies in order to ensure development of Uttarakhand.
