Drawing competition held to observe World Earth Day at RSC

The students of the State Capital observed the World Earth Day here on Monday at Regional Science Centre, Bhopal. A drawing competition was organised to observe the day at center’s premises.

Notably, the World Earth Day is observed every year on April 22 that focuses on the environmental changes and other evils harming the planet Earth. Earth Day is celebrated to proclaim that the human beings are very much concerned about the rapid deterioration of the environment and relative aspects.

This year internationally it is celebrated on theme 'Protect Our Species'.

To observe this day as a grand event, the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal circle organised a drawing competition. Notably, in the competition children from various schools participated.

The students painted their perceptions on paper about saving the planet Earth from pollution and other damages. The competition was divided into three categories Primary school that included classed from first to fourth, next category Middle school included students from the classes fifth to eighth and the last category High school included classes ninth to twelfth. The topic for all the categories was the theme of World Earth Day.

The children wonderfully depicted the dangers harming the planet and also the uniqueness of the planet was showcased through the variations of colours.

The Drawing Contest was followed by a Popular Science Lecture in which around 150 students took part. The popular lecture was delivered by Prof.  Suchitra Banerjee from Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Bhopal.

In her addressal  Banerjee elaborated the extinct, endemic and endangered species with special emphasis on our biodiversity.
