Excise officials on Tuesday arrested two persons at Nimapara Bazaar in Puri district for their alleged involvement in drug peddling. Shockingly, one of the arrestees was identified as the son of a police official.
The accused are Satya Ranjan Das and Shantanu Das, a Plus Three student of SCS Autonomous College in Puri and son of Delang police station SI Upendranath Das. Shantanu’s mother is also serving as a police SI.
Reports said that the accused duo was peddling drugs in the Puri and Nimapara areas. Following their arrest, heroin weighing 24 grams worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from their possession.
Both were returning from Bhubaneswar by a scooter when the excise team, acting on a tipoff, intercepted them at Nimapara Bazaar.
