Education is the key to character building and economic transformation of the society. It can empower our large human capital to be a great constructive force to drive the nation’s growth as a whole, said Director of Indian Association of Cultivation Science, Kolkata, Prof Santanu Bhattacharya while addressing the 11th convocation of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Technology (VSSUT), Burla on Saturday.
Bhattacharya said that the socio-economic situation around us is changing at a fast pace due to the impact of new technologies, changing demography, growing economy and other development initiatives going on in the county. Under such a scenario, higher education has got the potential to create a quantum leap in the socio-economic status of poorer families, he told.
The ceremony was chaired by Odisha Governor cum Chancellor of VSSUT Prof Ganeshi Lal. Director of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Dr K Siban was conferred with honorary doctorate in absence during the convocation.
In the inaugural speech, VSSUT VC Prof Atal Choudhury mentioned the various achievements of the university. On the occasion PhD, graduation and post graduation degrees were conferred on the students.
