Ensure timely completion of under construction projects: Power secretary

The Power secretary, Radhika Jha has directed the officials of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) to ensure that all the projects which are on anvil should be completed within the stipulated time.

She said that project escalations are prevented by timely completion of projects. Jha was addressing the officials of UJVNL at its Dhakrani based training centre on Friday. Terming the Vyasi project as an important project, she said that special attention should be paid on it. Jha directed that the work on projects like Sela -Urdig in Kumaon should be expedited.

The secretary advised that a professional approach should be adopted for efficient work management. She said that special emphasis should be laid on Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Jha said that the UJVNL should keep a production target of 48000 million units and should ensure that the availability of machines is at 85 percent.

The secretary also visited the 240 MW Chhibro power project on River Tons and inspected its turbines and control panels. Incidentally, Chhibro is country’s first underground power plant. Appreciating zero accident record of the plant she directed that all the employees of the plant should be honored.

The managing director of UJVNL, S N Verma, director of operations, P Singh, director of projects S C Baluni and other senior officials of the corporation accompanied the secretary.
