Famed Annapurna actor Paratihari dies

Veteran artist of the erstwhile Annapurna Theatre Ramachandra Pratihari died of sudden heart attack here on Sunday.  He was 87.

Pratihari belonged to the servitor community of the Jaganath Temple and was popular as Hati Pratihari. Since his childhood, he was passionate for acting and began his career at the Janata Theatre and later joined the popular Annapurna Theatre of Puri.

Later on, he joined the silver screen and carried forward his carrier with much popularity among the viewers. Among the Odia movies in which he acted were Nua Bohu and Nilamadhab. He also performed in opera. For his contribution to arts, he was conferred with the prestigious Jayadev Award besides being felicitated by Government and private forums.
