First air-conditioned hearse service launched

An air-conditioned hearse service has been launched by the Parvati Ghat management committee at Bistupur. The service, which is first-of-its-kind in the city was presented at  Parvati Ghat in Bistupur.

Ghat management committee secretary Dipendra Bhatt said that the service has been started in association with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City. They have donated the vehicle. Besides the dead body, the hearse can accommodate five persons.

He informed that charges for the hearse has been fixed at Rs 800 (per body). People can avail the hearse service by calling 7739359259/0657-2317266).

Bhatt informed that the best part of the service of the hearse can be availed for cremating dead bodies at other burning ghats of the city, including Subarnarekha ghat in Sakchi.

“As per our rules, the family needs to pay the hearse charges at our office for performing last rites at Parvati ghat while those performing cremation at other burning ghats can pay the charges directly to the driver,” he said.

Ghat managing committee vice-president Dilip Goel and members Amit Parikh and Sanjeev Sehgal as well as Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel city functionaries Alpa Parikh and  Simran Saggu were present at the launch ceremony.
