The doctors of the Himalayan hospital, Jollygrant, have successfully performed a Bariatric surgery on a female patient. A communique from the hospital claimed that the patient was suffering from obesity related like uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension, hypo thyroidis, obstructive sleep apnea and back ache. The patient’s weight was 100 kg and had a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 45.6 could not walk more than few steps due to respiratory distress and was not able to sleep properly. A team of doctors, headed by Bariatric and metabolic surgeon, Dr Hem Nautiyal, by using Laparoscopic sleeve gastrostomy successfully operated the patient.
Dr Nautiyal said that the bariatric surgery is an effective and recommended treatment for obese patients who are unable to control weight by dieting and exercise.
