Five persons consuming liquor and hookah were detained during a police raid conducted at Club Cabana resort located at Bhopal-Indore highway road late in the night on Monday.
Khajuri Sadak police were receiving reports of the liquor and hookah been served at the restaurant and hookah bar. After several complaints in the night on Monday the place was raided and during the raid five persons were found consuming liquor and hookah and when police asked to produce the bar license and smoking longue they failed to provide any documents.
Police have recovered large quantities of alcohol and hookah tobacco from the restaurant and five persons were detained. The owner of the restaurant Deepak Tithani (34) of Data Colony Road, employee Abhishek Lodhi (18), Abhilash (18) and Anil Lodhi (18) and one customer Ravi Changlani (26), were nabbed in the raid.
For long the restaurant was serving liquor and hookah. The police have registered a case under section 34 and 36 of Excise Act and section 3 and 4 of Control of Tobacco Products Act 2003 has been registered against them. Police have seized 5 Hookah and liquor bottles from the restaurant.
The action was taken in the drive to conduct fear free and fair Lok Sabha elections and the model code of conduct is imposed which helped the police in taking the action swiftly as earlier even after information of liquor and hookah serving was received action was not taken due to influence of owner.
