Four members of Khan gang arrested

Dehradun police arrested four members of Khan gang from Alwar in Rajasthan. They are accused of conning people by making a fake profile on a social networking site posing as army personnel.

Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi said that the accused used to post advertisements to sell old vehicles from the fake profile and lure people into their cyber con trap. Four such complaints are filed against them in different police stations of Dehradun.

The accused have been identified as Sakir, Narendra Jatav, Afzal Khan and Raul Khan- all from Rajasthan. The SSP said, “Four incidents of such cyber cons were reported in Dehradun. After taking money from the victims they used to clock their respective accounts. We have recovered six mobile phones, four Aadhaar cards and four PAN cards.” Cases were registered in Cantt, Patelnagar, Dalanwala and Ranipokhari police stations. On August 1 GC Bhatt submitted a written complaint in Ranipokahri police station stating that he was trying to buy a second hand two wheeler online.

He said that when he contacted the accused, he introduced himself as an army man and cooked up a story about getting order of transfer.  Trusting the story and thinking that an army man would not cheat he believed the accused when he offered him low price for the two wheeler.

Bhatt made a deal of Rs 27,500 for the second hand scooty he thought he will be purchasing and sent advance of Rs 10,000 through Paytm.

By the end of the entire con the accused took nearly Rs 80, 900 from the accused after which they switched off their phones.
