A couple was robbed of their chain at gunpoint by two unidentified criminals while they were driving past Janpath Road on Friday morning.

The victims have been identified as Vinod Singh and his wife Amrita Bohra, residents of Neb Sarai in South Delhi. According to a senior police official, the incident took place at around 5.30 am in the morning when the couple was going to New Delhi Railway station on their scooty.

"When they reached near Connaught Place outer circle, two unidentified miscreants appeared on a white bike and aimed a gun at the couple and snatched a chain from them. During the commotion, the scooty fell on the woman and she sustined fracture near her shoulder," said a New Delhi district police official.

"Amrita works in a well-reputed multi-national company in Gurugram. She is now receiving treatment at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi," said the police official.

"A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered and the police launched an investigation into the incident. Police teams are scanning CCTV camera in the area to identify the culprits and to ascertain sequence of crime," said the police official.

According the victim, Vinod Singh, who works with a hospitality firm at Green Park, when they were going towards K G Marg two men on a bike started chasing them.

"They first targeted my wife, but when they could not get hold of any valuable, they went ahead but they followed us again. When we turned towards Tolstoy Marg, the bikers again chased us. When they threatened us with the pistol, my wife immediately removed her chain and threw it on the road," said Singh.

"In the meantime, I took a U-turn and lifted a bag that fell on the road. But they followed again and threatened us to handover the bag," said Singh.
