A hardcore female Naxal gave up arms after being disenchanted with Maoist-violence and the difficult-living conditions of the ultras, police said here on Saturday.

She was involved in several deadly Naxal attacks on police parties in which around 16 police personnel had lost their lives, police said.

“We had received specific intelligence inputs that Nande Mandavi member of Naxal area committee Kerlapal and President of the Naxal Chetna Natya Mandali (CNM)- the cultural wing of the banned CPI(Maoist)- was going to reach district hospital Dantewada for getting some treatment,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Dantewada Dr Abhishek Pallav said.

On Saturday she reached the hospital and after seeing women commandos, she expressed the desire to surrender, the SP added.

She had joined Naxal movement in 2004 as a member of ‘Bal Sangham’ (a group operated by Naxals to recruit children). Later on, she was made member of the CNM and till 2012 she worked on that post. In 2012 she was promoted to the post of Kerlapal area committee. She carried reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head, the SP informed.

In 2014, she was part of the Naxal team that had perpetrated a deadly ambush on police party in Chintagufa, wherein 14 jawans were killed. Likewise, she was also part of a Naxal team that killed 5 jawans in Jharghati of Narayanpur in 2010, police claimed.
