The State Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory on Friday while sending an orange-coded alert of heavy snowfall especially in the areas situated at a height of 3000 meters and above. As per the forecast, places in districts like Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh are likely to experience heavy snowfall on February 21.
The advisory further issued a yellow-coloured warning of hail which is likely to lash isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nanital and Udham Singh Nagar districts from the evening or night of February 18 and it would continue till February 20.
As per the weather forecast, light to moderate rain, thunderstorm and snowfall are likely to occur at a few places of the state especially in the higher reaches of the hills for at least three days - February 18, 19 and 23. Besides, light to moderate rain, thunderstorm and snowfall are likely to occur in most of the places of the state with height of 2000 meters and above on three days from February 20.
As per the Met centre prediction, the weather is to remain mainly clear to partly cloudy on Saturday. Very light rainfall and snowfall are likely to occur at some isolated places in the hills. Generally, the climate is likely to remain dry in the rest of the state.
In Dehradun, the climate would remain mainly clear to a partly cloudy on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures of the city on the day are likely to be around 21 degree Celsius and 9 degree Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, it rained in Dehradun and other places intermittently throughout Friday. The sky remained overcast.
