Heer Ranjha staged under ‘Abhinayan’ series of drama

Under ‘Abhinayan’, a weekly series of drama, Play Heer Ranjha was staged at Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum. Heer Ranjha, the love saga was performed in Chamota style in the museum auditorium.

The play was directed by Khushi Mohammad (Punjab) and was performed here on Friday.

The story is about two lovers, Heer a beautiful village girl from a rich and noble family; and Ranjha, a poor farm boy.He looked after Water buffaloes belonging to Heer's father. They both fell in love but Heer's parents were against their marriage. Heer was married by force to a rich young man. Ranjha, very saddened by this, became a hermit, a person who lives alone away from other people and spends his time meditating about God. He later tried to meet Heer but he failed, and they both died in the end of broken hearts.

The play begins with Ranjha, who runs away from his home and comes to the village of Heer and starts working with Heer. After some time, the people of Heer come to know about the love of Heer and Ranjha. Therefore, Heer's family marries Heer elsewhere.

When Ranjha learns all this, then Ranjha takes the form of a yogi and goes to the in-laws of Heer.

Where he meets Heer and then both leave the village and run away. On one side, Heer and Ranjha run away and on the other side, they are searching for the Heer. One day the king's soldiers capture Heer and Ranjha and both were presented before the king.

But Heer tells Ranjha to get married. Having said this, Heer comes to her house and Ranjha goes to her village to bring a procession. Meanwhile, the family of Heer mixes milk with poison and when he discovers this, he also dies along with Heer.

With this, 'Heer Ranjha' in Chamota style ends the theatrical performance. The time limit of this theatrical performance was about 1 hour 30 minutes. The play was much enjoyed by the theatre lovers.
