District police on Sunday busted an illicit liquor racket and arrested five persons.
The police recovered 140 bottles of foreign liquor, 40 local made pouches and equipment used for making adulterated items from four different hotels at Kueya,Jairampur More, and Kusmatard in Dhanbad district.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the four hotels in different areas of Dhanbad and nabbed five persons under Tisra police station limits.
Dy SP Sarita Murmu said, “Five accused were caught red-handed making the liquor, mixing it with chemical.Some were putting duplicate wrapper showing mark of UP government on bottles, while others were preparing adulterated liquor and filling them.”
The accused used to make illicit liquor and paste stickers of wine manufacturing companies. During interrogation, they revealed that they used to supply it to rural areas of Dhanbad. The police seized 140 bottles of duplicate imported brands including Signature,Royal blue,Royal stag and others.
