Khaira appoints Jaito MLA as PEP Vice Prez

Chandigarh: Punjab Ekta Party president Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Friday released a list of new appointments, appointing Jaiton MLA Master Baldev Singh-who reisgned from AAP recently, as party’s vice president. Khaira said that these appointments would give boost to PEP’s secular image. Deepak Bansal has been appointed general secretary (organisation), Navjot Kaur Lambi as student wing president, besides appointing Sanakdeep Singh, Dalwinder Singh Dhanju, Sukhman Bal as his political secretaries, and Manish Kumar as office secretary.

Pb CEO meets political parties’ representatives

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Dr S Karuna Raju on Friday held meeting with representatives of various political parties after the completion of special summary revision of electoral rolls. The meeting was attended by the representatives of Indian National Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. Dr Raju informed that final publication of electoral rolls will be done on January 31, and the parties can raise objections regarding the rolls.

Cloudnine Hospitals launches packages

Chandigarh: Cloudnine Group of Hospitals has announced the launch of its birthing and IVF packages. It said the package starts at Rs 49000 which includes all consultations, lab tests, vaccinations. It also launched IVF packages for the first time in Punjab and Haryana region at Rs 60,000.

IAS Centre conducts entrance test at PU

Chandigarh: The IAS Centre, Punjab University, on Friday conducted its entrance test for the new batch of students preparing for IAS, wherein a total of 125 students were present for the test. The result of the test will be displayed on January 21 at 2pm at the IAS Centre, PU. About 70 students will be selected for this batch. Classes for the same will commence from January 28. IAS centre director Prof Paramjit Kaur and Coordinator Dr Shruti Bedi said that the students were well prepared.

EVMs, VVPATs to be put for display

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Dr S Karuna Raju on Friday said that the Election Commission of India will organize special display of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and VVPAT (voter verified paper audit trail) machines on important places across the state in the coming days. CEO said that the decision was taken  to make the voters conversant with the two.

Pb Edu Dept running vocations training prog

Chandigarh: Punjab Education Department is working in tandem with private companies to create employment opportunities in the State. In this direction, the Vocational Training Program is proving to be a turning point, said the state Education Minister OP Soni after reviewing the progress of program being run under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) on Friday. Soni said that during 2017-18, 480 eligible students of Vocational Training Program were provided employment.

Hry CIA team arrests one with 7kg doda-post

Chandigarh: Haryana Police’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has seized 7.320 kg of doda post from a person riding on a scooty from auto market area in Sirsa district. Police Department spokesperson said that arrested accused was identified as Tajinder Singh, a resident of Hari Vishnu Colony, Kirtinagar, Sirsa. A case under NDPS Act was registered against the accused at City Police Station, Sirsa. He will be taken on remand by producing in the Court.
