GUV unveils (rtd)commander Avikshit's book

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore on Monday unveiled a book titled ‘Leadership Behaviour and Employee Morale’ authored by Commander (Dr) Avikshit (retired) in presence of PEC director Prof Dheeraj Sanghi, among others at Raj Bhawan. The book has been written for leaders of engineering industry and micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).Badnore applauded the efforts of Commander (Dr) Avikshit and remarked his penned down experience in Indian Navy followed by corporate will enlightened not only students but also professional striving for their career in  industry.

 

Punjab CEO GIVES draft electoral roll to parties

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Dr S Karuna Raju on Monday handed over CDs of integrated draft electoral roll to representatives of various political parties of the State. He informed that final publication of electoral rolls will be done in the first week of February 2020, and appealed to all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs). The elector verification program (EVP) activity was started on September 1, 2019, and ended on November 30, 2019.

 

97% children vaccinated in Nuh, Palwal

Chandigarh: To ensure immunization to every child covered under Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 2.0, Haryana’s two districts — Nuh (Mewat) and Palwal — has achieved more than 97 percent coverage. National Health Mission (NHM), Haryana, Mission Director Amneet P Kumar said that these two districts were included for IMI 2.0 in the State and in the first month itself, more than 97 percent children have been vaccinated against the set target. IMI 2.0 will be conducted from December 2019 to March 2020.

 

Training prog for Census-2021 held for Punjab

Chandigarh: Punjab’s Directorate of Census Operations on Monday held a training programme of Master Trainers for the first phase of Census-2021 regarding house listing and housing census and updation of National Population Register at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab (MGSIPA). The six-day training programme of master trainers of Punjab and UT Chandigarh was inaugurated by Punjab’s Special Chief Secretary-cum-FCR and MGSIPA Director General KBS Sidhu and Director Census Operations Abhishek Jain.

 

Punjab seeks applications for Liaison Officer,

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has sought applications from senior assistants or senior officers working in all departments for appointment of liaison officers and observers with the jathas which will be going on various events in Pakistan. Spokesperson said that State Government may send Jathas of Sikh or Sahajdhari Sikh pilgrims to Pakistan on various occasion like Baisakhi, Guru Arjan Dev’s Martyrdom Day, Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s death anniversary, and Guru Nanak Dev’s Gurpurab, and liaison officers and observers are appointed to accompany these jathas. Those, holding post of senior assistant or above are eligible to be liaison officer and observers.

 

1,087 cartons of illicit liquor seized in Hry

Chandigarh: Haryana Police’s Crime Investigation Agency on Monday seized 1,087 boxes of illicit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from two canters in Panipat district. The seized liquor is said to be worth Rs 7.6 lakh, said Police spokesperson adding that the drivers have been identified as Anil and Krishan, both resident of Ridhau in Sonipat.

 

UBS to commence admissions from Dec 18

Chandigarh: Panjab University’s University Business School (UBS) will commence online registration of applicants for admission to MBA programs (MBA, MBA-EP, MBA-IB, and MBA-HR) to be offered at UBS during the academic session 2020-2021, and it shall continue with effect from December 18, 2019, (Wednesday) to February 4, 2020 (Tuesday). Candidates are advised to visit the website http://ubsadmissions.puchd.ac.in for details regarding eligibility criteria, online registration and application form, admission schedule, fee and Handbook of Information-2020 for getting admission to MBA programs at UBS during academic session 2020-2021.

 

PU faculties’ deans, secretaries elected

Chandigarh: The meetings for election of Dean, Secretary of Law, Medical Sciences, Dairying, Animal Husbandry and Agriculture were conducted on December 15-16 at Panjab University. In the meetings, Deans and Secretaries of various faculties, for the term February 1, 2020, to January 31, 2021, have been elected. Dr. Pyara Lal Garg was elected unopposed Dean Medical Sciences, while Prof Ashish Jain was elected Secretary. For Law, Anu Chatrath was unopposed elected Dean while Prof Rattan Singh secretary. Professor Ronki Ram was elected Dean Arts faculty, while Dr Vinay Kumar was elected unopposed secretary.

 

Exam postponed due to protest call

Chandigarh: Due to boycott call by Punjab and Chandigarh Colleges Teachers’ Union (PCCTU), the examinations, except MBA (Executive) and BE, scheduled for December 18, 2019, has been postponed to December 26, 2019.

 

Architects say Tribune flyover was ‘ill-conceived’

Chandigarh: Leading architects on Monday stressed on the point that all decisions pertaining to Chandigarh are either taken by politicians or bureaucrats without any professionals’ role of citizens' participation. Terming it as “very dangerous” for the city, they maintained that the same should be avoided to save the City Beautiful. About 50 architects from Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana participated in a meeting organised by Indian Institute of Architects, Punjab Chapter, to discuss “What Ails Tricity”.

 

Think Gas expands in Punjab

Chandigarh: Think Gas is currently operating 5 CNG stations in Punjab and has plans in place to double the number by March 2020, the company said. It said, it is well on track to create the required infrastructure and ecosystem to make CNG a viable option for the owners of autos, taxis, and private cars, as well as light and heavy commercial vehicles. Think Gas was awarded licenses to develop city gas distribution networks in the 6 districts of Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Moga, Barnala, Kapurthala and SBS Nagar in Punjab.

 

IEPFA to organise state-level conference

Shimla: Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) would organise a state level conference-cum-awareness programme in association with Institute of Charted Accountant of India at Dharamshala on December 20. Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur will inaugurate this conference.  A spokesman said that Government of India has established the IEPFA under the provision of Companies Act, 2013 to promote investor's education, awareness and protection including making refunds of unclaimed dividends, matured deposits etc.
