In Jajpur: Fake currency seized; woman arrested

A 40-year-old married woman was arrested from village Barapada under the Binjharapur police station of Jajpur district by the police with seven counterfeit currency notes in the denomination of Rs 2,000.

Lusi Parida had purchased grocery items from a shop at Kuasapur Chhack in Jajpur town by paying a fake Rs 2,000 note on Thursday. Later, the shop owner Gobinda Chandra Nath came to know about the fake note and informed police. Acting on the complaint, police rushed to the market and arrested the woman.

“We also seized seven fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination, five mobile phones and a two-wheeler from her. We are investigating the case,” said of Binjharapur police station IIC Suchitra Birya Das.
