IPRD must reach each village, house : Barnwal

Principal Secretary to Chief Minister cum Secretary of Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) Sunil Kumar Barnwal today asked officials to ensure that the department reaches every village and every house of the State. While reviewing the works of IPRD he said that the responsibility of the department is to act as a link in the chain and make available government policies and schemes to last person standing on the way of development.

“All the officers associated with public relations work should change their working style through quality news release, success story, news of the week, etc to promote the government's plans, policies and achievements at a rapid pace. The officers of the Information and Public Relations Department should live up to the trust of both the public and government. Show the government's plans and policies through various media and directly before the public,” he said.

Keeping in view the important objective of wide publicity of the Government's schemes, Barnwal said that the senior officers of the department, district public relations officers, all the officers associated with the public relations work, recognising their strengths, can effectively inform the people about the schemes of the Government. He said that by arranging Hording, posters, banners, street plays, folk songs, music-dances, etc in places like local markets, village squares etc in remote rural areas, the government's plan and purpose will reach the last person of the social strata.

Barnwal said to make better use of the publicity LED vans run by the State government to spread the information of the schemes from village to village, so that the people living in remote rural areas have complete knowledge of the government's schemes and they can take advantage of. He said that after publicity, also take feedback about how much effect it is having among the people. How is the general public benefiting from this? He directed that every day, 3 villages of a panchayat should ensure the work of publicity through LED vans.

The Secretary said that Jharkhand Journalist Samman Pension Scheme and Chief Minister Journalist Life Insurance Scheme have been notified by the government for the welfare of journalists. “Complete information about the rules of both these schemes and make them available to journalists by conducting workshops. The hard copy of the rules of Jharkhand Journalist Samman Pension Scheme and Chief Minister Journalist Life Insurance Scheme should be made available to journalists. Inspire district-level accredited journalists to take advantage of these schemes. The guidelines of these schemes should be prepared and given to all district public relations officers so that they can give complete information about its benefits to all district level journalists. Be sure to organize a workshop of journalists in the next 10 days. In the workshop, let the journalists know the importance of the government's schemes so that they can communicate the plans to the general public through their writing,” he added.

Director, IPRD, Ram Lakhan Prasad Gupta said that it is a matter of joy that in the last few years, the reach of IPRD has increased from village to village. He said that the department is a great medium for the implementation of the schemes being run in the public interest of the government and the activities.

Promotional dissemination can be done at a rapid pace by modernizing the existing working style. He said that if all the officers engaged in public relations work with the goals and then they will get success. Gupta said that all the DPROs should report their respective works to the Headquarters at the same time so that their work can be properly evaluated in the review meeting.

On this occasion, Deputy Director, Public Relations Ajay Nath Jha asked to ake voters aware by running the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.

He said that special focus should be laid on women and young voters. Make voters aware that they can become partners to build a strong democracy by joining the celebration of democracy.

He said that the more the franchise is used, the stronger the democracy will be. To make the SVEEP campaign effective, the help of various NGOs, public sector undertakings, private sectors, health department personnel, PHED's Jal Sahiya, Anganwadi center staff, cinema hall street theatre etc can be taken.

Special Secretary, IPRD, RK Singh, Deputy Secretary Manoj Kumar, all under secretaries, all deputy directors, assistant directors, DPROs, APROs, SMPO alongwith other employees were present on the occasion.
