Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Sunday extended its support to Cabinet Minister Saryu Roy who has waged war against Chief Minister Raghubar Das and decided to file his nomination to contest against Das from Jamshedpur East constituency.

Addressing a press meet, JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that he is announcing on behalf of the party Executive president Hemant Soren that the party has extended its support to Roy, who has raised his finger against wrong decisions of the State Government on several instances.

He appealed to all parties to support Roy in his fight against the alleged corruption and injustice in the Raghubar Government.

The party General Secretary said that Roy expressed his concern when Das was the Minister for Urban Development. It was during his time that the Manhunt Scandal took place, he added.

Bhattacharya said that Ray not only raised the issue of Manhunt Scam but also brought to light several scams that happened during Das’ regime as Chief Minister.

“Blanket scam, IPRD scam, paddy purchase scam, rain storage scam, health equipment procurement scam, drug scam and others are among the anomalies that Roy raised his voice against. Due to Roy’s whistle blowing, Das has suffered many sleepless nights,” he added. Reacting to Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate change, Prakash Javadekar visits to the State Capital, Bhattacharya said that Javadekar visited the State to confuse people of the State just before the State Assembly election and to get political mileage on Indian Forest Act, 1927, which the Union Government had amended and tried to evict forest dwellers from forests.

Despite strong resistance of forest dwellers, the Government stuck to its decision. “On this issue Javadekar announced on Saturday in Delhi during a press conference that the Government has held back its decision on the issue.

He visited the State Capital to meet media persons to show that the Government is not against the forest dwellers and to get political mileage just before the State Assembly elections,” he added.

Bhattacharya requested the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take Javadekar’s visit as a violation of the Model Code of Conduct as the Minister visited to lure a large numbers of voters of the State who live in forest areas.
