Home Guard Bikram Swain was arrested by Naugaon police on the charge of kidnapping and raping a fellow Home Guard’s wife on Sunday.
A case has been registered at the Naugaon police station basing on the complaint of the victim woman. Both the accused and the victim woman were medically examined in Naugaon hospital on Sunday, said DSP Prakash Chandra Pal, who was supervising the case.
According to the complainant, on April 9, accused Bikram reached her residence at Naugaon, forcibly took her to Konark and kept her in a village where he had maintained physical relationship despite her protest
On receiving a complaint, the police first tried to settle the matter amicably. But the victim did not agree with the proposal and later met SP Sudha Singh on April 12 and apprised her about the incident, seeking justice.
Following instruction from Singh, DSP Prakash Chandra Pal conducted a probe and instructed the Naugaon police to register a case.
