NLIU Legal Aid Clinic Workshop and Training Program on Capacity Building, 2019 (LAC- WTP) is first of its kind organised by any law school in the country. It was a successful initiative of the Legal Aid Clinic of NLIU, Bhopal.

This event has seen 20 law institutes within the state of Madhya Pradesh participating with full of enthusiasm. Apart from this panelists were also been invited. These panelists have been invited on the basis of exceptional reputation their legal aid clinics have earned in the past years.

The two- day programme saw workshops conducted by various dignitaries in the legal field. A workshop on concept and operation of legal aid clinics in law colleges/universities was conducted on the first day. It was followed by a training programme the next day where the participants were trained specifically in the concept and techniques of mediation.  On the second day of LAC-WTP, a training session exclusively on the mediation was organised.

This session was taken up by Neena Khare, a mediator certified from the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India. These sessions have seen Registrar of NLIU, Giribala Singh (District Judge) deliberating upon the understanding of Practical Mediation. Registrar and Neena Khare have taught participants mediation by presenting two case scenarios which was resolved by the participants with the help of mediation techniques.  Participants trained in mediation will have high utility while operating a legal aid clinic. Faculty In-charge LAC Kavita Singh, Convenor LAC NLIU Husssain Ali, Co-convenor Rishabh Halwai, Jt Secretary Ishaan Chauhan were the event organizer of this event.

Then the entire programme concluded with the distribution of appreciation and participation certificates by the guests Justice Anil Kumar Sinha, Judge Supreme Court of Nepal, Justice NK Gupta, Lokayukta of Madhya Pradesh and Ashutosh Mishra, Secretary District Legal Service Authority, Bhopal.
