A leopardess died in a road accident on the national highway 74 in Haridwar on Tuesday. This is the fifth leopard death in an accident on this highway this year.
National Highway 74 adjoins Shyampur and Chidiyapur ranges, due to which the movement of wild animals including elephants, leopards and deer among others is common on the highway.
Haridwar divisional forest officer Akash Verma confirmed that a leopardess died after being hit by a vehicle on NH 74 on Tuesday morning.
