Reacting to the statement of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sant Ravidas Temple in the Assembly on Thursday, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said the Chief Minister has taken a irresponsible and impractical stand by rejecting his proposal to remove the land of temple from the forest category.
Gupta said Kejriwal wants the matter should remain entangled in the Courts forever. “The Chief Minister is putting obstacles in the way to solution. I was marshaled out of the Assembly along with MLA O P Sharma after suggesting the solution on this matter after discussion with the Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar,” he said.
Addressing the House, Gupta suggested that the most appropriate and simple solution is to remove the temple land from the category of forest land. “It is the responsibility of the Delhi Government to do so,” he said.
He said he had discussed the matter with Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar. He assured that if the Delhi Government removes forest tag from the temple land, Union Government will leave no stone unturned in making the place as grand as envisioned by the devotees of Sant Ravi Dass. The Delhi Government should take initiative and the BJP Government will discharge its responsibility of constructing grand memorial to the great saint.
