Martyrs of Pulwama attack cremated

The martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack-Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel-Mohan Lal Raturi and Virendra Singh Rana were cremated with full military honours in Haridwar and Khatima respectively on Saturday.

In Dehradun, the mortal remains of Mohan Lal Raturi arrived on early Saturday morning at the residence of the elder brother of the martyr at Vidhya Vihar near Kargi Chowk.

Crying inconsolably, the wife and the children of the slain soldier clung to the box in which the body of the martyr was kept wrapped in tricolour.  Moved, the large crowd which had gathered at the residence of Raturi raised slogan like ‘ Shaheed Mohan Lal Amar Rahen’, ‘ Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’.

The Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat, led a large number of people in offering floral tributes at the mortal remains of the martyr. Expressing his deep sympathy, CM told the grieving family members that the people of the State are standing with them in this hour of sorrow. He assured that every possible help would be provided to the family members of the martyr.

Rawat further said that the Uttarakhand Government has already made a declaration to provide Rs 25 lakh to the family of the jawans who had lost their lives in the Pulwama attack. Condemning the attack on the CRPF personnel, CM said that he is confident that a befitting reply would be given by the army. He added that the whole country is standing united behind its armed forces.

The Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi, Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh, deputy inspector general (DIG) of CRPF, Dinesh Uniyal and Rapid Action Force (RAF) Commandant Neelima also placed floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the martyr.

Martyr Mohan Lal Raturi, a resident of Bankot village of Chinyalisaur of Uttarkashi district, was the assistant sub- inspector (ASI) in the 76th battalion of CRPF and was slated to retire in 2024. Mohan Lal was survived by his wife, three daughters and two sons. His family is living at present in Dehradun.
