Mayawati expels two party leaders in Kanpur

Sunday, 13 October 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

| Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Saturday expelled two senior leaders of the party in Kanpur for indulging in anti-party activities,

Both the leaders were not supporting party candidate in the bypolls to Govindnagar Assembly seat in the district.

Reports said that former MLA Ram Prakash Kushwaha and senior leader Surendra Kushwaha, who were earlier president of Kanpur district unit, were not supporting party candidate Devi Prasad Tewari. A report in this regard was sent to Mayawati by the present district unit president of Kanpur, Ramshankar Kureel.

Both the leaders were alleged to be in touch with the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and were passing on the party’s election strategy to the  rival party.

Taking Kureel’s report seriously, Mayawati expelled both these leaders from the party. They were connected with the BSP for the last over 17 years.
