Following reports that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s daughter has received anonymous threatening messages on CMO’s official e-mail, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued a notice to the Delhi Police and stated that mere posting of a Personal Security Officer (PSO) is not enough and immediate steps should be taken to nab the culprits.
It was alleged that on January 9, multiple emails were received by the Delhi CMO, threatening to kill and kidnap his daughter and other family members. The mail was reportedly forwarded to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik.
Investigations were undertaken by the Cyber Cell under Special Cell of Delhi Police, to analyse the email and ascertain the origin of the mail.
Taking suo-moto cognizance of the reports, DCW stated, “It is reported that threats have been received on the official email of the Delhi Chief Minister threatening to kidnap and kill the CM’s daughter and other family members. It is learnt that the Delhi Police has deputed a Personal Security Officer (PSO) with the daughter and the matter has been referred to the Cyber Cell.”
The commission also stated that this was an extremely serious matter where the family of the elected head of the State is being openly threatened and the police have failed to nab the culprits.
Further, in the past as well, the security of the CM and his family has been breached on several occasions which raise serious concerns on the safety of the CM and his family.
“Mere posting of a PSO is not enough and immediate steps should be taken nab the culprits as well as ensure complete protection and safety of the CM and his family,” they said.
In a notice addressed to the Cyber Cell unit of Special Cell, the commission has asked for information on the case including a copy of the First Information Report (FIR), a status report of the investigation, details of the email ID and IP addresses.
DCW also questioned on whether the IP address has been tracked and if the location and the accused persons have been identified and reasons for no-arrest in the matter till date. DCW has asked for their reply latest by January 16, 2019.
