Metro carrying messages to create voter awareness flagged off

Delhi Chief Electoral (DCE) Ranbir Singh inaugurated a voter awareness campaign on Wednesday by flagging off Delhi Metro (Pink Line) which was carrying messages on to create awareness among voters in Delhi. A senior official of DEC said that a total of 311430 hoardings/banners/posters have been removed by various civic bodies in all over Delhi out of which 30533 are removed from New Delhi Municipal Council, 43075 from East Delhi Municipal Corporation, 2411 from Delhi Cantonment Board, 130699 from South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and 104712 from North Delhi Municipal Corporation respectively.

Under violations of model code of conduct, a total of 154 ‘First Information Report’ has been lodged up to April 17. Out of which, sixteen is against Aam Aadmi Party (9 FIR’s and 7 DD entry), twenty one against Bhartiya Janata Party (15 FIR’s and six DD entry), seven against Congress Party (2 FIR’s and 5 DD   Party (1 DD entry) and CPI (M) (1 DD entry) and 107 are against under the head of others/non-political, according to a statement issued by the DEC. It also informed that till date 1361 bottles, 91 half, 127911 quarters of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and 949 bottles, 1161 half; 256208 quarters of country liquor and 5837 bottles beer were seized. A total number of 909 FIR’s have been registered and 906 persons are arrested in Excise Act, it said.

The official also informed that 329 FIR’s have been registered under arms act, in which 373 persons are arrested and 1320.8431 Kg of narcotics/drugs have been seized respectively.”Till date cash of `2, 82, 22850, 442 numbers of unlicensed arms/weapons and 2610 numbers of cartridges/explosives/bombs have been seized.

It further said that 4546 licensed arms deposited and 70420 persons have been booked under various sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC ) of Delhi Police Act as part of preventive action measures.

The DCE office further said cases are also recorded against the violation in other cases (misuse of vehicles, violation of loudspeakers, illegal meetings and gratification of electors, etc).
