Due to initiatives taken by minister for labour and urban administration Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia two minor children were brought back to the state from a juvenile remand home in Pune, Maharashtra.

The children Majnu and Shalini were detained in the Pune's juvenile remand home for performing street show despite being minors.

Majnu, 11, S/O Jeevrakhan was a resident of village Bargaon of Pamgarh police station area in Janjgir Champa district while Shalini, 8, D/O Jeevanlal Dhidhi was resident of village Rewan of Mandir Hasaud police station area in Raipur district.

The children were detained by Maharashtra police when they were performing street play on national highway there. They have been kept at a juvenile remand home since past seven months.

As the parents of the children were illiterate they were unable to make direct contact with the Maharashtra authorities. They therefore informed about their plight to the labour minister Daharia.

Daharia taking the matter sympathetically took the help of women and child welfare department of the state and contacted the officials in Maharashtra and urged them to send them back to their home district under custody of their parents so that they can brought up their children in a better way.

The parents of the children provided affidavits that they will from now onwards not permit their children to perform street play.

Meanwhile, with the efforts of minister Daharia the children were on Tuesday handed over to their parents with a promise that they will not engage them in street plays in future.
