Muscular ultrasound is an easy mode to identify diseases related to joints, soft skin and bones of hands-legs when compared to MRI Imaging. Especially for joint pathology for spine injury, it becomes more effective, said Dr Mahesh Prakash, Professor Radiology, PGI, Chandigarh, President Musculoskeletal Society of India (MSI) while addressing a daylong workshop on Sunday.
He was holding scientific session during ‘MSK Ultrasound Workshop’ organized by MSI and Department of Radiodiagnosis, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur in collaboration with IRIA, Chhattisgarh Chapter of Radiology at Telemedicine Hall, Medical College Raipur.
This was further endorsed by Radiologist Dr Naga Varaprasad Vemuri from Vijaywada stating that shoulder, wrist and knee joints ultrasound helps to identify the problem with ease even for those patients who have fear for MRI scan. It is a portable machine so it helps to take ultrasound of critical patients from bedside.
Expert radiologists from Meerut and Hyderabad also spoke on different aspects stating that there is no danger of radiation while it is much cheaper than MRI and CT Scan.
