Musical event organised in memory of Khayyam

A musical event 'Karengy Yaad Toh...' in the memory of legendary music composer Khayyam was organised at State Museum here on Saturday.

The programme was organized by the Khushboo Educational and Cultural Society.

The young singer of the city, Vani Purohit, gave a tribute to the music composer Khayyam by presenting the famous song "Dil Chiz Hai Kya Meri Jaan" from Umraojaan.

The never-to-be-forgotten song  Zanjeer Ki Jhankar, Khuda Khair Kare and Hijra Mera Naseeb Hai were presented by senior singer Rajiv Singh. Senior singer Nina Srivastava received a lot of applause when she performed "Tum apne ranjo gham apni trouble" and "Chand tanha hai asma tanha".

 S Mazhar Ali performed the title song "Kabhi Kabhie Meri Dil Mein" and "Main Pal Do Pal Ke Shire Hoon" and Tariq Ansari sang the lyrics "Kabhi Koi Ko Ko Mukammal Jahan" "Shame Gham Ki Kasam".

The singers presented songs and ghazals composed by Khayyam .  The title song "Karoge Yaad To ...." was performed by Ghazal singer Yakub Malik Khan. Deepa Srivastava and Shujaat performed a duet Chandni Raat.

Senior singer Lakhanlal Dande performed "Jeet hi lenge baazi hum tum" with his colleague Deepa Srivastava. Dev performed a song performed by Rafi on "Hai Kali Kali Ke Lab". Sapna Guha performed "Yeh mulaqat ek fakad hai".

During the musical evening, Bhopal's young poet Shoaib Ali Khan and young poet Gausia Khan Sabin conducted the programme. In the end, the institution president and famous painter, poet, program coordinator Sajid Premi thanked all the music lovers, singers, and audience.
