Party starts an elaborate process of organisational elections in U’khand
The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would get a new President in the month of December. The new President would oversee the saffron party in the Himalayan State for a period of three years. The term of the incumbent President Ajay Bhatt has already expired. A massive membership drive is currently underway in the State BJP which would culminate on August 20. The elaborate exercise to elect the new State president would start after this membership drive.
Informing about the party’s plan, the State Election Officer of BJP and MLA, Balwant Singh Bhoriyal told media persons at State party office on Saturday that the central election in-charge of the party, Radha Mohan Singh is visiting Dehradun on August 19. Singh would address a workshop of all district election officers, assistant election officers and office bearers of the party in the state in the day.
Bhoriyal said that after end of membership drive on August 20, the verification of the active members would be done till August 31. He added that from September 11 to September 30, Booth presidents and Booth committee members would be elected. The state election in charge said that the election of Mandal presidents would occur between October 11 to October 31 and the election of district presidents and members of state council would be held from November 11 to November 30. The process of election of new president of the state unit and member of national council of the party would be held from December 1 to December 15.
Bhoriyal said that the election of the party office bearers at every level in BJP is done on the basis of consensus. He added that a panel of three candidates would be sent to central leadership of party for selection of state president.
