The ongoing Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election campaign took a violent turn on Monday after Congress backed National Student Union of India's (NSUI) vice-presidential candidate Ankit Bharti was attacked allegedly by Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarti Parishad (ABVP) members when he went to campaign in College of Vocational studies.
However, ABVP said they have nothing to do with the attack.
A NSUI functionary said the alleged attack by the goons of ABVP happened when Bharti had gone to campaign at the College of Vocational Studies.
"He was surrounded by ABVP goons and beaten up with sticks. He was hit on the head. He was taken to RML Hospital for treatment where he received stitches on his head," said he added.
ABVP spokesperson Monika Chaudhary said that ABVP has no role in this matter.
