Oppn alliance to win 60 seats in UP, says AAP leader

Wednesday, 22 May 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh on Tuesday met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and claimed that the opposition alliance would win at least 60 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

“This time the exit polls will be a total failure. People have already lost faith in this exercise and after May 23, their lack of belief will be cemented further. It is certain that an opposition government will be formed at the Centre after May 23,” he said.

Talking to media after meeting Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Tuesday, Singh said that it was a courtesy call.

“We had a fruitful talk and we discussed about the formation of a new government at the Centre,” he said.

“I feel the gathbandhan will get more than 60 seats in UP and the BJP will be wiped off across the country. Exit polls will prove to be false, like it had happened before. The opposition will form a strong government at the Centre,” he claimed.

The AAP leader, who is party in-charge of UP, said that the first priority of the opposition would be to prevent “communal” Narendra Modi and Amit Shah regain power at the Centre.

After the exit polls were aired on Monday, Akhilesh Yadav had met Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati and the two leaders were closeted for over an hour to discuss the post-poll scenario.

Earlier, on Saturday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was in Lucknow and he met Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. They discussed the modalities of the formation of a third front government at the Centre.
