Palamu gears up for counting, post counting days

Tuesday, 10 December 2019 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Palamu police are out planning a safe drive for post counting victory fever, which is to grip the supporters of the victors who (victors) will be five in numbers one each in this five Assembly constituency district.

Sources had said the poll fever of November 30 at Kusiyara booth where a candidate’s gun in booth as claimed by him for his “safety and security of life” not occurred this LWE hit Palamu would have remained incident free when compared to second phase of polling in the State where took place one loss of life at a booth, a couple of voters down with injuries, burning of bus and an encounter with Maoists and cops getting injured.

Sources said now the Palamu civil and police administration is mooting a plan for a trouble free victory procession or jubilation across the district, which in the past here has on one or two occasions gone amok.

DC, Palamu Shantanu Kumar Agrahari said, “People exercised their rights quite peacefully and we will ensure a similar peaceful post poll days here.”

Sources said administration is planning to keep an eye on alcoholics in victory passage who seldom control their own nerves.

SP Ajay Linda said, “The DC and I along with district nodal police officer Surjit Kumar and commandant of central armed police force one company of which is deployed in the innermost ring of the strong rooms are inspected almost every day and review the things there quite meticulously.”

Linda said the security ring is three layer wherein are CAPF, State armed police and DAP in the descending order. He said political agents are watching the scene on monitor installed there.

“Many of our police officials are away from the district for PM duty, elections of third, fourth and fifth phase and once they are back here we will have serious interactions with them for the maintenance of law and order here,” added he.

The SP said, “Police officials are zeroing in on any past post counting troubles here and this time such vulnerability or proneness to victory passage going any rough, tough and trying to over ride others’ sentiments will be dealt with a very firm hand.”

Linda’s deputy Sandip K Gupta held a meeting with OCs and inspectors of police on Sunday wherein he asked the officials to tame hotels/ lodges/ dormitories/ to maintain a proper record of visitors who check in and check out.

Gupta said, “We found a case in which a young girl checked in a hotel here alone and the concerned hotel did not maintain her any identity proof/residential proof which is too a major lapse on the part of the hotel as in the event anything bad happens to this girl visitor there then the hotel cannot shy away from its responsibility and accountability.”
