The body of the Slain Lieutenant Anurag Shukla, native of Singra Khurd of Palamu, who was martyred while saving from drowning of three colleagues at Jaisalmer training camp under Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, today reached Daltonganj.
Thousands of people standing since morning for the last glimpse of the martyr Anurag, reaching Chandrasekhar Azad Chowk in Radma of Daltonganj town, paid last tribute to the brave soldier. People also raised slogans "Bharat Mata ki jai" and "jab tak suraj chand rahega Anurag tera nam rahega" (Your name will stay till eternity).
In shape of grand procession, thousands of people, along with hundreds of vehicles took the soldier’s body to his native village Singra Khurd from Daltonganj. DC Shantanu Agrahari, SP Inderjit Mahatha, MP BD Ram, former minister KN Tripathi, MLA Alok Chaurasia, former MP Ghuran Ram, Congress leader Dinanath Tiwari, BJP leader Parashuram Ojha, Kishore Pandey among others accompanied the large gathering in the village.
Military personnel of Army , Urban Development Minister CP Singh, DC Rai Mahimapat Ray, SSP Anish Gupta, Army officers and many social activists paid homage to the martyr.
23-year-old Anurag was posted in the army as a Lieutenant. This was the first posting of Anurag in the army. About six months ago, his posting took place in Sriganganagar.
