Ram Janmabhoomi Trust chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das said that people still had faith on Bharatiya Janata Party and believed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would find a way out for construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya.
“Millions of people are looking towards Modi because the way the Supreme Court is delaying the process by extending dates has hurt the Hindu sentiments,” the Mahant said in a statement issued on Monday.
He said that if Modi took the initiative to build the temple at Ayodhya, it would be a true tribute to the karsevaks who faced bullets in 1990 when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
On January 4, the Supreme Court said that a bench would be constituted on January 10 and it would fix the date of hearing in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land title dispute case. The court also dismissed a plea demanding urgent hearing of the case on day-to-day basis.
“The judges should also respect the sentiments of Hindus. We respect the Supreme Court but that respect should be reciprocated. Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram and documentary proofs have been submitted to the court. History and religious scriptures talk about it. If still there is a delay it is unfortunate for the Hindus,” the Mahant said.
Attacking the Congress and supporters of Babri Masjid, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das said that they were wilfully delaying the whole process. “Those who are delaying the process will face the ire of Lord Hanuman,” he said.
The mahant also said the saints and the sant samaj would take a “concrete decision” on the temple issue at a ‘Dharma Sansad’ which will be held in Prayagraj during Kumbh Mela from January 31 to February 1.
