BARGARI MORCHA TO PROTEST ON APR 20 OUTSIDE CEO OFFICE

The Bargari Insaaf Morcha on Wednesday announced to stage protest in front of the Office of Punjab Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday seeking cancellation of IGP Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh’s transfer from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing 2015 sacrilege and related police firing cases.  The decision, taken by the panthic leaders of the Bargari Insaaf Morcha after holding a state level meeting at Barnala, came after the one-week ultimatum given to the Election Commission for Kunwar Vijay’s reinstatement ended a day before.

The Morcha has convened a meeting of panthic forces in Barnala to chalk out their future course of action.  “The SIT was conducting a fair probe. It had already arrested two senior police officials. However, the investigation has been influenced due to the poll panel’s move,” the Akal Takht’s parallel jathedar Dhian Singh Mand had stated.

 EC TRANSFERS AMRITSAR RURAL SSP

Election Commissioner of India (ECI) on Wednesday appointed IPS officer Vikram Jeet Duggal as Amritsar (Rural) SSP replacing Parampal Singh.   Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Dr S Karuna Raju said that in compliance of ECI’s orders, 2007 batch Telangana IPS officer Duggal has been posted as SSP Amritsar (Rural) in place of PPS officer Parampal Singh.  Dr Raju said that as per the ECI’s instructions, Duggal is directed to join immediately and send compliance report in this regard immediately.

CODE VIOLATION: AAP SEEKS BARNALA DSP’s TRANSFER

AAP on Wednesday lodged a complaint with Punjab Chief Electoral Officer seeking immediate transfer of Barnala City DSP Rajesh Chhibber to ensure smooth and peaceful election in the constituency.  Party’s spokesman and legal wing president Jastej Singh Arora, in his complaint, said that DSP Chhibber was trying to influence voters to in favour of the ruling Congress candidate. “He is indulging making phone calls to businessmen and shopkeepers and others in the area to vote and support the Congress nominee,” he said.  Arora alleged that Chhibber was trying to threaten voters in the constituency to vote and support a particular candidate by misusing his official powers. He had been threatening them with dire consequences if they failed to so, he added.  Alleging that there was a free flow of liquor in the constituency under the protective patronage of the officer, AAP leader demanded that he be immediately shifted from the area thereby restoring the peaceful atmosphere in the poll bound Barnala segment.

ECI GIVES PERMISSION TO VARIOUS PROPOSALS

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday gave its nod for various proposals of Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Officer while making it clear no political mileage and publicity should be done by anyone.  Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Dr S Karuna Raju said that the Commission allowed award of purchase order for medicines, consumables, or equipment etc, and continuance of procurement process for medicines, consumables or hospitals equipment etc.  The Commission also approves the proposal for implementation the order of transfers of ministerial cadre at Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Office.

TAKSALIS EXTEND ALL SUPPORT TO BIBI KHALRA

SAD Taksali’s senior vice-president and Khadoor Sahib’s former MP Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala on Wednesday assured Punjab Democratic Alliance’s candidate from Khadoor Sahib Bibi Paramjeet Kaur Khalra of all kind of help and support from the party leadership and its workers.   “We are now supporting Bibi Khalra and appeal her to contest the election as an independent candidate so that she could get support from all the like-minded parties to defeat the candidates of traditional parties,” said Dr Ajnala while addressing the party workers during a personal function organized by party leader Daljit Singh Gill Amarkot.   Addressing the gathering, senior leader Sewa Singh Sekhwan emphasised the need to strengthen the third front. “We are appealing all like-minded parties to strengthen the third front to save the state from the mafia raj and misrule by the traditional parties as now each and every person wants change in Punjab,” he said.  Former chief of Indian Army General JJ Singh, party leader, said: “I served the nation while in the Army and now I'm serving people of Punjab. I have withdrawn my nomination to a give momentum to Bibi Khalra’s election campaign. Our fight is against the traditional parties and I also appeal to all the political outfits to support Paramjeet Kaur Khalra.”

ECI APPROVES FOREST CLEARANCE CASES, CUTTING OF TREES

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday gave its approval for forest clearance cases and cutting of trees of sanctioned National Highways, fixing of appointed date and start of work, float tenders, announcement of land acquisition award project sanctioned by the Government of India.  Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Dr S Karuna Raju said that the Commission has no objection to the proposals as made therein subject to the condition that no publicity should be given and no political mileage shall be taken by anyone.

TEWARI’S ROADSHOW IN ROPAR

Thousands of party workers and supporters on Wednesday thronged the Congress candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahib parliamentary constituency Manish Tewari’s roadshow, organized by Punjab Technical Education Minister and Chamkaur Sahab MLA Charanjit Singh Channi. The roadshow started from Morinda and culminated at Chamkaur Sahab.  Tewari said that while he was feeling overwhelmed with the outpouring of massive support, it was actually an endorsement of the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s policies and programmes he had launched since March 2017 after taking over the reins of the state.  “While people of Punjab are thoroughly disillusioned and alienated with the Modi Government at the Centre as it has proved to be utter disappointment, they have great expectations from Capt Amarinder as he is known for delivering what he commits and promises,” he said.

Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar slams PM Modi

Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar on Wednesday slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the PM has done nothing during the past five years of his tenure except indulging in the politics in the name of nationalism, religion, caste, defence forces. While addressing a gathering in Kalanwali, Congress nominee from Sirsa, Tanwar said that from 2014 to 2019, Modi has changed his name from chaiwala to chowkidar. The fact is that the Narendra Modi government has lost the trust of the masses, he said. Continuing his tirade against the PM, the Congress leader asked,

“Why did Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi flee India.” They fled the country because they knew 'chowkidar' is there at the Centre. He further said that the BJP led Central Government has been exposed after the Pulwama terror attack.

People are aware about the major intelligence failure and also, the failed foreign policy under BJP’s regime, he added.
